Just Like You…

… that’s the title of a video about children with Down Syndrome. It is very informative and i love how they point out the differences between everyone and that Down Syndrome does not definite who they are. This video really does cover lots of aspects of Down Syndrome and how a child with Downs needs help but they still want to do everything other kids do. They try their best.

The 3 kids with Down Syndrome in the video proudly show that they are indeed different but that doesn’t mean they aren’t awesome, just being who they are and live a full life with support from their family and friends. Their best friends share great testimony on their behalf.

Watch the video then read on:

My little Heath has Down Syndrome too. And as it is said in the video, ‘It’s just part of what makes me who i am.’ But it is only a part of it. He is much more than Down Syndrome.

But unfortunately, the society he was born into sees only his Down Syndrome and they only see it as a disability  Which is why Heath spends his days sitting in a wheelchair, doing nothing, absolutely nothing but stared at whatever happens to be before him. Because where he is from, being different from what is considered “normal” is unacceptable.

‘Once you learn what Down Syndrome is, you get use to it. Because when you have the knowledge and you understand, it’s easy to accept.’

12 year old Heath, is a cutie who needs his family asap.
12-year-old Heath, is a cutie who needs his family asap.

His only hope is to be adopted by a loving family who has the knowledge and understands that Down Syndrome is not a disability; a caring family who lives in a society which will accept him, just as he is; a little boy who just needs to be shown tender loving care, who will just thrive in such care. Could you be the one to give him such love?

‘She sees you for you, who you are on the inside.’

Please see my Heath for who he is, see that he is a little boy with much need but most of all, see his potential. Can you imagine what he could accomplish with a supportive family behind him?

‘I’m worth the wait…’

Indeed, he will be a blessing to the family who welcomes him with open arms and hearts.

My little Heath has a full grant! (We, his advocates, are so grateful to all the generous donors who made this possible.) Which means his forever family need only come up with the initial fees for commitment and home study and that is completely doable.

Money is now not a hurdle. We just need a family to step up. Are you his family? Please click on his name or picture to find out more or contact Reece’s Rainbow.

Will you share Heath‘s story far and wide so that his family maybe found? Do pray for him; for his daily needs and for a forever family to come for him.

To Heath’s Forever Family…

HI, i am Sandra and i fell in love with my little Heath almost exactly seven months ago. How did i fall in love with a boy i never met just by looking at his picture and reading about him? Well, i don’t know; what i do know is that it is all part of God’s plan to give this sweet child a home and a loving family, which he so richly deserves.

This is the blog post which led me to him: http://joyinthemoments.com/2012/02/05/love-makes-all-the-difference/

11 years old Heath, is a cutie who needs his family asap.

i read that, i clicked on to Reece’s Rainbow, read Heath‘s profile and cried my eyes out. My son was there on that webpage. Why was he on that webpage and not home with me? i shared with my husband and i tried to find out if we could adopt. But all those doors closed. It was not to be. i cried some more and decided i am going to do the next best thing: find my boy a loving family. So i became his prayer warrior and his advocate.

i had followed links on his profile to these to blog posts by Julia at CovenantBuilders:

http://covenantbuilders.blogspot.ch/2010/10/brady-and-heath.html

http://covenantbuilders.blogspot.ch/2010/10/recalled-to-life.html

i felt good that there was one other mama who loves Heath and who is shouting out for him – there were two of us was what i thought to myself at that time.

Boy, was i wrong!

Heath has a whole ton of advocates and prayer warriors. God truly has an amazing plan for this little one. Here is just a small list of people advocating for Heath:

And there are more! Heath is well-loved! Lots of individuals are rooting and praying for him.

God himself is moving mountains for Heath. Just look at this increase in his adoption grant which i found both Saige at OnMyHeartMom and myself were tracking:

http://onmyheartmom.blogspot.ch/2012/05/little-heath-little-heath-how-your.html

If you do your math, you will see from the above post, that God moved Heath‘s grant from a tiny US$240 in December 2011 to almost US$9000 in the middle of May 2012. Well over US$8,500 in 6 months.

Now watch God work the absolutely amazing:

According to my records, Heath had US$10,708.40 at the beginning of September and today (28th Sept 2012), God has moved hearts and hands and his adoption grant is at US$20,905.50. That is over US$10,000 in less than a month!! Much of this came from the amazing efforts of many of the ladies who wrote the blogs listed above. Such wonderful love, such faith, such unbelievably fabulous people! But most of all, such an out-of-this-world Good God!

Now, i have been informed that the total costs of an international adoption from Heath‘s country (sorry i can not tell you exactly where in Eastern Europe) is about US$20,000. So Heath is fully funded!!

This means that his forever family only needs to pay the initial paperwork costs – Commitment Fees, Homestudy, Getting Dossier together etc… which is about US$5000. The rest of the adoption is taken care of by Heath‘s huge adoption grant!

This whole post has been to let Heath‘s family know that when they commit to bring Heath home, they will not be alone in the process. There is a whole team all ready to support them in every way we can. And as you can already see, God is on our team too. So there is a guarantee of success 😀

So Heath‘s forever family, we are waiting for you. Heath is waiting for you. Please contact Reece’s Rainbow to find out about committing to bring Heath home.

i hope to get to know you soon. And support you in your journey to bring a much beloved Heath home.

Heath‘s mum in her heart,

sandra

If you do not feel led to be Heath‘s family, there are other ways to help.

Share his story so his forever family can find him.

Pray for him; for his daily needs; for him to stay strong and healthy till his family comes for him.

Donate to his adoption grant – yes, he is fully funded but to have more in there would mean that his forever family might be able to bless another orphan or another adoptive family during their journey. They may even be able to bless the other boys at his institute. Click on his name or picture to go to his profile.

Thank you so much if you have prayed along and support Heath and donated to his grant. Please continue to do so.

God Has Done It… Again!

11 years old Heath, is a cutie who needs his family asap.

That’s right – He has indeed! He has worked a miracle once again and i think we have met the matching grant for my little Heath, which i talked about on Friday. (Click here to read about it.)

Julia, over at CovenantBuilders, reported contributions of US$2005.15. The Johnsons reported pancakes sales of US$800 and there were a few other reports of various amounts which i am not sure whether or not Julia had included them in her report. But just taking Julia’s reported amount and the pancake sales, it is already enough to meet the matching grant!

Praise the Lord! Thank you God!

Since i could not be at any of the events, i will point you to others who were. Here are 2 summaries. (i’m sure there are others but i haven’t had time to gather them all together.)

Update: another post from another wonderful lady who loves little Heath. (18 Sept 2012)

Thank you to everyone who contributed, whether in giving donations or taking part in a car wash or bought a pancake or bought something at the yard sale or bake sale etc…

Thank you also to the tireless volunteers who have all worked so very hard to help this little boy’s adoption grant grow, all in hopes that his forever family will see him and bring him home quickly.

PS: If you visit Heath‘s profile page (click on his name or picture), his adoption currently reads US$13583.70 (as of Monday, 17th September 2012, at 9.25pm – Swiss time). It will take a week or so for all the contributions to show on his profile. Also the matching grant will only be contributed at the end of the month.

PPS: Please do keep on praying for Heath, for his forever family to come for him and for his daily needs. Also please do continue to share his story so his family does find him quickly. And if you feel led to give towards his grant, every little bit helps and it will most definitely be appreciated by the family who comes to bring him home. A bit more would also mean that maybe his family could contribute more to his institute to better the living conditions of the ones who remain there.
