Yes, i say a New, New car, it is not a typo. We usually buy second-hand cars because really there is little point in buying a brand-new car when a good condition second-hand one will do. That is what we believe and still do.
So why did we get a brand-new car this time? Because we looked and looked for a second-hand one and found that for just a bit more, we could get a brand-new one. Plus, we are old-school and wanted a fully manual-drive, which apparently is a rare thing these days for a petrol engine car.
We had hoped to be driving our beloved Skoda for a few more years. But it was not meant to be, unfortunately. Earlier this year, there was a software update for the car to better manage the diesel-particle filter and since that update, our poor car had to go to the workshop/garage three times in 6 months! And this last time, the problem was going to cost us quite a bit, if it turned out to be a small thing. However, if it turned out to be a big thing, it would cost us a ton. We won’t have known till the mechanics opened the whole thing up. So we decided to just trade it in and get another car.
So this is our new, new car! Which had to be driven in from Liechtenstein because this car dealership (quite a big one) could only find a manual-drive petrol engine, in the model we wanted over there!

It’s a VW Golf Variant Combi (or Stationwagon to my US friends) in tungsten silver metallic colour. It is even more gadgety than our last car, which i had found a little overwhelming at first. You can set different driving profiles, sync your phone and control the gadgets from your phone, and it can even self-park (just parallel parking, i think).
i have not yet driven it yet. It was only picked up yesterday. But the husband says it is a good drive and quiet too. He likes it.
We hope to be driving this car for many years to come because if and when it comes time to change again, it looks like it will have to be an automatic/Tiptronic because that’s the way car manufacturers are going.
