Still More Angels…

Now you didn’t think that there would only be just one ‘More Angels’ post, right? If you missed the first one, read here.

Today, please get ready to meet:

Megan!

This sweetheart is waiting for her family.

She is such a cutie! This darling of a 12-year-old girl is beautiful with her blonde hair and blue eyes. She needs a mama and a papa to love her for who she is.

Her Angel Tree Warrior is shouting out for her on Facebook on this page.

This is Salome.

She has been waiting far too long for a family.

She is almost 15 years old which means she has only a year left before she ages out! She needs a caring family to love her, to give her the attention she deserves, to help her through the therapies she so badly needs.

Her Angel Tree Warrior blogs at lovethychild. And also has this Facebook page for her and has an Esty shop (all procceds go to Salmone and a second Angel Tree kiddo, Jordan.). There are also items up for bid which would benefit both Salmone and Jordan on Adoption Auction’s Christmas Around the World.

Here is Jordan.

He needs a family’s love to grow strong.

He is 8 years old but he looks so much small. There isn’t much information about him but what we do know is that he will thrive with the care of a loving family.

His Angel Tree Warrior blogs at lovethychild. And also has this Facebook page for him and has an Esty shop (all procceds go to Jordan and Salmone). There are also items up for bid which would benefit both Jordan and Salmone on Adoption Auction’s Christmas Around the World.

Here’s what you can do for these precious children:

1) You can pray for them. Pray that their daily needs are met. Pray that a forever family will step forward for them.

2) You can also share their stories so more people can help to spread the word about them and their needs.

3) You can give to their adoption grants on Reece’s Rainbow. Simply click on their names to go to their profile page to donate. Remember, during this holiday period, if you give US$35, you will receive a lovely Christmas Ornament for your tree as a thank you. In case, you want to know why would they need a large grant, here’s why: these children are considered of no value in the societies they are born into. At best, they are considered a burden or sub-normal, a normal life isn’t possible for them in their countries. So a very expensive international adoption is their best option. Let’s not let money or lack of stand in the way of their families coming for them.

4) You can take part in all the above fundraisers.

Thank you.

Book Review: Inkspell by Cornelia Funke…

So a month after i reviewed Inkheart, the first book in the Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke, i have finished reading Inkspell, the second book. And what a reverting read it was! It was captivating, magical, thrilling and spellbinding! i literally could not put it down and every time i had to (daily life needs to be lived) i would try to find every opportunity possible to get back to reading it.

At the end of the first book, i was left wishing that poor lost Dustfinger would get his wish and be returned to his own world and that wish came true in the second book but not without major complications and a mysterious new character called Orpheus whom i greatly dislike (maybe even hate!). Mo, Resa, Meggie and Farid get pulled into Inkworld and have to defeat the evil Prince of the Castle of the Night, Adderhead.

We get to meet all the unique and wonderful characters of Inkworld and see how Fenoglio (the author/creator of Inkworld) truly loves them to a fault. We learn more about Dustfinger’s wife, Roxane and his best friend, the Black Prince. We get to walk through the Wayless Wood, be startled by the fairies, see the streets of Ombra, watch the Strolling Players show off their tricks and sink deep into Inkworld. It was such an amazing world, i completely understood why Resa and Meggie talked about it often and wanted to see it – i wish i could see it with my own eyes too.

The story takes many unexpected turns; some very sad, some frightening, others hoped for. Death plays a big role in this book and it is most definitely darker than the first one. And the pace of the story doesn’t let up, even at the end, and much is still unresolved, which sets the stage for the third book.

My recommendation is if you have read Inkheart and liked it, most definitely read Inkspell. If you have not read Inkheart, do so before reading Inkspell because the cast of characters grows and you don’t wanna get lost.

i’m a little fearful of reading Inkdeath… reviews have not been great for that third and final instalment of this trilogy. But i want to know the very end so stay tuned for the third review of this series.

Cooking Adventures Continues…

My parents are fantastic cooks and they taught me how to cook from as far back as i can remember. i remember standing on a stool,  as a little girl, trying my best to fry the perfect sunny-side-up egg, which my dad says is the ultimate test of a good fryer 😉

So i continue the tradition and have introduced the kitchen to my little guy as soon as i could. He started here and sometimes cooked with Daddy too. He has made pizza, baked a mini cake and made beef-patties. And other times which i have not written about.

This time round he used his Stars Wars Cookbook and made for us Tie-Fighter Ties and Tusken Raider Taters.

Here he is in action:

From Left: Preparing the sauages, cutting the dough...
From Left: Preparing the sausages, cutting the dough…
From Left: wrapping the dough, before going into the oven...
From Left: wrapping the dough, before going into the oven…
From Left: cutting potatoes, mashing potatoes...
From Left: cutting potatoes, mashing potatoes…
Finally! Cooking done! We can eat!
Finally! Cooking done! We can eat!

In case the pictures aren’t clear, dinner was sausage rolls, which look like tie fighters and mashed potatoes which represent the desert landscape where the tusken raiders lived 😉

i’m so glad that my little guy actually likes cooking 😀
