Orphan of the Month for November & Angel Tree Child… Angel Crafts Shop…

Now that is one long title for a blog post.

It’s that time of the year again; it’s Reece’s Rainbow’s Angel Tree!

angeltree2015_aWhat does that mean?

Well, Reece’s Rainbow advocates for as many special needs orphans as they can throughout the year, with a small team of administrative staff and tons of volunteers. i am one of those volunteers who give of our time and social media platforms to create awareness for these precious children, to give them a voice and, prayerfully, help them find their loving families.

However, during Christmas time, Reece’s Rainbow returns to its roots; it started as an advocacy website for down syndrome orphans. And during the run-up to Christmas, a special event; Angel Tree happens. This is where we, advocates, pick a child and for 2 months, 8 weeks, from 1st November to 31st December, we feature this child in as much social media as possible to get as much exposure for this chosen child as possible and of course, to also raise the child’s adoption grant by US$1000.

So fundraisers will be held, various manner of things will be sold, giveaways will be run and local quirky fundraising events will take place, all to help a child have a family to call their own.

My Angel Tree child will also be my Orphan of the Month on Angel Crafts Shop for the months of November and December.

Zane-ZayneWithout further ado, allow me to introduce the handsome Zayne!

i saw Zayne on Angel Tree when i first started advocating for special needs orphans some 3 years ago. And it saddens my heart to see that he is still on it this year. As an advocate, what i hope for, is that i never have to see the same children on Angel Tree year after year.

So this year, i really want and pray that Zayne‘s forever family will see him and come forward for him. i will do my best to create as much exposure for Zayne as possible and raise as much as i can for his adoption grant to ease his forever family’s path to bringing him home.

Now who is Zayne?

Well, we don’t know very much about him. And i believe that this lack of information may be what is preventing him from getting a family.

His profile has 3 sentences: “Zayne wishes to be adopted by a family abroad.  He hopes to have a dad and mum to call his own.  He enjoys playing outside with other children!”

We don’t know whether he’s going to school or not, whether he’s verbal or not, whether he has a heart condition (lots of Down Syndrome kids have a heart condition), or whether he likes singing or planes or music.

BUT what we do know is that Zayne wants a family, he wants to have a mum and dad of his own, he also likes playing with other children; so siblings would be great. And that he likes to play outside, so he is definitely not an indoors boy and we can assume not too quiet either.

And look at his adorable face, doesn’t that face just speak volumes to you? It does to me. i see kindness in his eyes, i see an understanding of his own heart’s desires for a family, i see what a great son he would make.

SO please SEE ZAYNE! Help Zayne this Christmas season to find his very own forever family. Share his need. Pray for him.

Do stay tuned as i gather things together to start some proper fundraisers and publicity events for Zayne. EDIT: Click here for the first fundraiser!

angeltree2015_bIn the meantime, go to Zayne‘s profile page by clicking on his name or picture and click on the Donate button to give towards his adoption grant. If you give US$35 or more, you will get a lovely Christmas ornament (see picture on the left) mailed to you with Zayne‘s picture on it.

You can also shop on Angel Crafts Shop, where 50% of all sales will go to Zayne‘s adoption grant. So start shopping!

Thank you so much.

Orphan of the Month for October… Angel Crafts Shop…

Yes it’s a new month… but i don’t have a new orphan of the month because there were no sales at all in September, which means i have not been able to give towards Lucinda‘s adoption grant which is still at zero. 😦

However, it is a new month so let’s start again… Let me introduce you to Orphan of the Month for October…

Meet Lucinda!

11-year-old Lucinda has mild Cerebral Palsy but only has a slight limp when walking. She is described as an extrovert who speaks slowly and communicates well with others. She wears glasses (and i think she looks cute in them) and has some dental issues. She enjoys quiet activities and loves to read, solve puzzles and draw.

Lucinda‘s hope for a family to call her own would be in an international adoption because her chances for a domestic adoption is low due to her medical condition. Her special needs are so manageable and i know she will just shine with a loving family behind her.

You can help her forever family reach her faster when they do step forward for Lucinda. You can help grow her adoption grant by shopping at Angel Crafts Shop this month! 50% of your purchase will go to her adoption grant which will lessen the financial burden of the very expensive international adoption her future family might face. So start shopping!

You can also pray for Lucinda, pray for her daily needs and for a caring family to step up for her as soon as possible. You can also share her story and need for a family so more can help. Click on her name or picture to go to her profile page on Reece’s Rainbow. Thank you.

New Kids on Just Needing A Family’s Love…

You heard the good news; Jason has a family coming for him and of course last year we had the sad news that Jasper aged out. While i will always be praying for these boys (just like i pray for all the orphans we had previously advocated for), we need to move forward and help more precious children. So we have 2 new orphans we are advocating for and praying for. We, meaning my boy and i and you too!

Meet DEAN!

12 year old Dean needs a family to help him make the most of life.
12-year-old Dean needs a family to help him make the most of life.

Dean was brought to the institute when he was 5. He is now 12 years old. His special need is listed as mental delays which makes his exact condition unclear and i believe this may be what is stopping families from jumping in and committing to giving him a home. He has learnt much since being at the institute. He has good self-care skills and can even help with simple chores. Dean is described as an introverted child who gets along well with the other children at his institute and at school.

Whatever his specific need might be, it is clear that with a loving family around him and the right tools available to him, he will go far. He needs people who believe in him, he needs to find his people!

And you can help that caring family find him; you can share Dean’s story and need for a family. You can pray for him and for a family to step forward for him asap.

You can also help grow his adoption grant. Because of his “mental delays”, he is likely to be overlooked for domestic adoption within his country. So an expensive international adoption would be his best chance for a family to call his own. This grant which Reece’s Rainbow has opened for him will help the family who comes for him to reach him faster and make finances less of an obstacle to Dean getting a family.

Meet CAROLINE!

Caroline is 12 and wants a family to call her own.
Caroline is 12 and wants a family to call her own.

Caroline also come into institutional care when she was about 5 years old. She is now 12 years old. She has Cerebral Palsy which affected her lower legs. After a surgery in 2013, she has been able to walk with only a slight limp. In school, she is just a little bit behind her peers because she had no early education before coming into care. Caroline is described as very easy-going with a positive attitude about everything she does.

Doesn’t she sound lovely? All she is lacking to make the most of life is a loving family who can help her to get all the possible care she needs and to show her that family means standing with each other.

You can help Caroline find her forever family! Share her story and her need for a caring family. You can pray for her and her family to step up for her asap.

You can also help grow her adoption grant. Like most special needs orphans in her country, she is considered an outcast and will unlikely be chosen for domestic adoption. An expensive international adoption might be the way to a forever family for her. Reece’s Rainbow’s adoption grant will enable a family to face a lesser financial hurdle when considering Caroline’s adoption.

There you are – 2 lovely children in need of wonderful families to help them navigate life better and to shine like the little stars they are.

Please join us in advocating for DEAN and CAROLINE, as well as praying for their daily needs and for a family for each of them.

You can click on their names or pictures to find out more. You can like my FB page, Just Needing A Family’s Love, to follow along and take part in fundraisers and other events for these precious kiddos.

Thank you.
