Heart Issues…

i have a cardiac condition – i have a “leaky’ heart. So when i hear about another person with a heart condition, my heart goes out to them (no pun intended) and in some way, i identify with them.

i identify with Angelina – a little orphan with Down Syndrome and a heart condition who is listed on Reece’s Rainbow.

This little precious one is now 4 years old and desperately needs a family who will care for her and love her and help her to seek medical care for her condition (we are not told of the exact nature of her cardiac condition) and guide her to live a full life.

My heart condition is not life-threatening but i could have been a very weak sickly child and be stuck just making it through life, if not for the wonderful care my parents gave me and the good doctors they brought me to.

Angelina can also live a full life. She just needs a parent to give her that support and direction. Are you her parent?

Angelina has a sizeable adoption grant (more than US$4700) which will go towards her adoption costs which can be anywhere from US$25000 to US$40000.

If you are thinking about expanding your family, would you consider this cute little one? Click here or on her picture/name to go to her profile page on Reece’s Rainbow.

Do pray for her – for her daily needs to be met, for her medical condition to improve/stabilise.

Do contribute to her adoption grant (just click on the Donate button on her profile page) so that her forever family can reach her sooner.

PS: This is a belated Tuesday Teamwork post.

10+ and Waiting…

10 year old Heather, is a healthy sweetie who needs a family asap.

My beloved Heather is this week’s Teamwork Tuesday child – today is the day many other prayer warriors and orphan advocates work together to pull attention to one specific child and my sweetie Heather gets highlighted today!

However, i would like her to share this spotlight with all the other 10+ years-old girls listed on Reece’s Rainbow who have all been waiting just as long as she has for loving parents to put their arms around her and take her home. (Too many to post all their photos and details here – please click here to go to the listing.)

There are 27 girls, aged 10+ who are listed on Reece’s Rainbow. When you go to the listing for 10+ years-old girls, you may be have to do a double-take like i did when i first visited that page. Many of the girls don’t look like they are ten years old, they are tiny and a lot of them either have their heads shaved or have very very short hair; making them look like little boys instead of little girls. (Their hair are cut really short for easier care at the orphanages which are often very short-staffed and can’t afford the basic luxury of combing girls hair.)

Like Heather, they all need a caring family to love them and help them grow into the lovely young ladies i know they are. They need a mummy and a daddy who can look beyond their disabilities and medical conditions and see the beautiful butterfly who is stuck in the shell of a fat little caterpillar. Only with a supportive family can they ever hope to blossom as they should.

My little Heather is such a cutie and she has no other medical conditions except Down Syndrome. She will be turning 11 in a couple of months. Wouldn’t having a family be the best birthday present ever?

All of these 27 (10+ years-old) girls could do with an amazing present like that.

Please, if you are considering expanding your family, would you consider the blessing of adding Heather or one of these girls to your family?

Please do pray for Heather and these girls who all need a family badly. Please help Heather‘s very low adoption grant to grow, donate to it as a bigger adoption grant would likely get her more notice. Also do share her story, share the stories of all of the 10+ years old girls or just the one who captures your heart so that their forever family can find them today.

Developing Our Heart for God…

…that is the title of an article i read a few months ago…

It talked briefly about the influences Greek scholars and Socratic thinking had on the 3rd and 4th century churches have affected the way we relate to God.

These influences encouraged focus on the intellectual and have became so deep-rooted in our basic thinking that it has also swayed our relationship with God from one of intimacy and power to one where mere knowledge plays a bigger role. It has shifted our priorities, causing us to neglect the building of close relationship which can change lives.

The concluding lines of that article (read full article here) states

We must listen and respond with the heart. Whatever service we give to God should be a result of our relationship with our heavenly Father, not an end unto itself.

And one form of service i have been actively involved in is advocating for orphans with special needs (please click here for more posts on these orphans).

Today is Teamwork Tuesday where we, advocates, shout out about one particular child, in hopes that such concerted efforts would bring the child more notice and help find their forever family.

3-year R.J. waits for his forever family to come for him.

Meet R.J.

He is such a handsome little guy. See those wonderfully soulful eyes. He is 3 years old and we have been told that he would be transferred to an adult mental institution quite soon. After transfer, his chances of getting adopted would diminish, it may even disappear all together.

Reece’s Rainbow (an advocate website) wasn’t even given enough information to be able to start an adoption grant for him (no donation button). Once he is transferred, information would be even harder to get.

Please don’t let R.J. disappear. Please pray for him and share his story so his family can find him today. Click on his name or picture to see his profile on Reece’s Rainbow.

Responding with heart,
