He peed! & haircut (bad?)

Ok i know – the subject line looks weird. Never mind here’s what’s up today:

Tobias finally peed into his potty (which is a child seat over the big loo)!! Yippy!!!!
We’ve been putting him on the potty for almost 2x months now, at regular times of the day, to get him used to the idea & to encourage him to do his business in the potty. Of cos, i’ve been told that when potty training, we (the parents) need to be brave & just go without the diaper immediately but… i was chicken so i went the long way. Now that he’s done a pee in there – i think i have the courage to try without the diaper – maybe next week. i never thot that toilet-training would depend so much more on the parent than the kid.

Here’s the part about the haircut:
We cut Tobias’ hair on Saturday – at home, ourselves. He really didn’t want to have it cut cos of the noise the haircutter was making – so i held him on my lap & Walter tried his best to cut. After about 5 mins, Tobias sort of stopped struggling & just sat there watching Veggie Tales while we tried to make it look better. What do u think of the haircut?

Of cos, he looks cute in his sunglasses too, right?

So so so sick for the past few days…….

After a nice refreshing day on Thursday (the last entry), Friday went ok – Tobias got a very slight fever but it went away quite quickly. Saturday was went things started to go bad …
After a nice breakfast (with the usual “chew & swallow, Tobias”), we went out to get some stuff we need for the house. Tobias seemed ok & i seemed ok & walter was ok – so we went. Tobias started to have a little fever while we were out, we quickly finished, had a quick lunch & came home. He went to sleep so did i as i was feeling really tired. Tobias woke up fine. i woke with fever & it just kept climbing from there – it hit (i think – i don’t really remember) 39.8 at some stage. We fought with sleep & panadol – didn’t help. Finally, decided we better go to see a doc on Sunday – but this is Switzerland – no doctor is open except the emergency one (we weren’t sure which one was on) & decided it was faster to just go to the hospital. We went, were there for a couple of hours (i think – again can’t really remember), remembered them taking my blood, giving me medication, doing an x-ray – all is pretty fuzzy for me then. Came home. Slept till tea, had a fruit, had dinner, slept again (again i can’t be sure).
On Monday, we had to decide if i could take care of me & Tobias while Walter is away for the whole week from Tuesday. Decision was to have him go to Ian & Jill (his Godparents) as i was still having high fever & in pain all the time. Ian & Jill so kindly agreed to have him for a couple of days (i am Forever Grateful to them!!). So Walter took him to them. Walter left yesterday for Russia. i was still having fever & pain. Oh did i mention there was also coughing & some vomiting at some stage too. At the end of yesterday, the fever went down finally. i felt better after a few days of doing nothing but eat & sleep. Today i’m still aching all over but at least no fever & am feeling lots better – enough to actually want to look at my emails …
So hopefully/prayerfully i’ll be a whole lot better by the end of today & Tobias can come home tomorrow.
i don’t remember ever being so so so sick…
My darling husband has just been wonderful through out!

Been ill, went to a zoo, mummy day

So after a happy birthday party, we all fell ill – Walter had the cold (he’s now recovered almost completely), Tobias – fever, bad cough & now blocked nose, me – bad sore throat & now slight cough. So we’ve all been down for almost a week now.
Here’s a pic of Tobias, lying really still on the cough, watching Japanese Anime:

The weather has been cold & raining (i really don’t know what the weather is coming too – below 10 at the end of May!!) – can’t wait for summer to get here in all it’s glorious sunshine & warmth!

On 25 May (Ascension Day – public holiday), we went to a zoo near us – (yes, even thot we were sick – well, Tobias had no more fever & didn’t have as bad a cough so…). It was an overcast day but at least no rain & a little above 12 degrees so we went. It’s called Siky Ranch Zoo – a 15min train ride from our place. It is reputed to have the only white tigers in Switzerland! The tigers were lovely to see as were the other animals. Even though the enclosures were quite large (not all were large) i still feel that there are other zoos which are better but of cos this is a small family-run place so… We had a lovely morning anyhow.
Here’s a pic of Tobias trying to feed the goats:

Today is my mummy day (i normally take a saturday) so daddy stayed home with son (he so kindly took a day off) – i went for an Introduction to BSF – Bible Study Fellowship. This is a huge thing back home in Singapore but i never got into it & now after being in Switzerland & living quite a distance from church & church activities – i’m finding a need for more input (esp when i hardly get to listen to sermons, being in Sunday School & Nursery most times). So on the recommendations of my Sunday School Coordinator & another friend (who attended BSF in Singapore), i went. So somewhere in Bern, every Thursday morning, a room full of women gather to study the Word of God. They seem to be really good with keeping time & to the task at hand. The lecture was definitely good – i learnt a few things i never knew about Genesis. They have a kids program too – so there is something for Tobias too.
Well, i’m now signed up to start with them at the beginning of the next school year (Sept 06). It will take effort on our part to get there on time, every Thursday – we’ll have to leave the house at 7.15am at the latest – Tobias normally only wakes at 7.45am or 8am so this means waking him early & feeding him breakfast on the train! But i think this will be good for me & him.

So that’s it for now – have to go prepare stuff for dinner – i’m trying out a new recipe tonight.
