Garden Progress…

i just realised that i have not shown off my garden in a couple of months so here’s what’s been happening in my garden.

Late March 2017: Pumpkins babies were doing great! i had to give most away because i only had space for 2 of them in my garden. But it was a joy to pass them onto others to enjoy. The cherry and pear blossoms just started to open at this time.

April 2017: The cherry blossoms were in full bloom. My potatoes plants started to poke through. The lavender buds also started to come out.

Early May 2017: The pears started to form. My potatoes plants grew even more. The cherries also started to appear.

Late May 2017: The pumpkins are no longer babies. The potatoes plants exploded as did the lavender.

Early June 2017: The cherries are almost ready to eat! The lavender is pictured here with a couple of hollyhock (Alcea rosea) plants. i read they can grow to two meters! With pretty flowers in a vertical row – can’t wait to see them. The pears are looking very pear-like 😉 My potatoes plants are now waist-height and have little flowers on them. The pumpkins have just filled up their plot.

Aren’t the potatoes flowers so very cute?

i also planted crocus this year but they only lasted a short time and i didn’t get a good picture. The Maybell which we (Tobias and i) planted last year did come back but we have no flowers. i think the campanula was crowding them. i also tried a variety of herbs and sunflowers, from seed packets which the Migros gave out last year for one their kids collection things. But none survived, except for a very small dill plant and a basil plant, which is ever so tiny still. Sad but maybe i will try again next year.

i must confess that i never thought i would be the gardening type but it has brought many a smile to my face to see these lovely plants and flowers growing in my garden, knowing that i put down those seeds/seedlings. 😉

Wishing you a lovely summer! And i hope you can get out and enjoy the beautiful nature whenever possible.
