Have you noticed that new red logo on the left side of my blog?
Well, that’s the Forty to Forever logo. What is Forty to Forever?, you ask.
Forty to Forever was born out of a desire to help Lina, a special needs orphan grow her adoption grant and more importantly, help her find her forever family. God moved the hearts of two wonderful ladies and now they are doing more than just fundraise for Lina… they (along with other advocates and families) will be fundraising for 40 orphans, growing adoption grants and praying and hoping that this extra exposure would help the waiting children find families and help the families on their way to bring home a special needs child.
This fundraising effort is centred around the period of Lent. (For a short explanation of what is Lent, see here.) During this 40 days of Lent, everyday will feature a different child with a fundraising goal, a giveaway, a daily Lent devotion and discussion.
As we spend time reflecting on what the Lord has done for us by coming to this earth, living among us and dying for us, let us also reflect upon His Heart, upon what makes His Heart beat; His Heart beats for the lost, the poor, the widowed, the orphaned.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. – James 1:27
The Lord wants us to be involved in acts of kindness to the least of us, to care for those who can’t care for themselves, to help those who can’t help themselves. Just as God looked at us and had compassion, let us also have compassion as we come to know these precious children who have no voice to speak for themselves, who need families to love and care for them. Let our compassion move us to help them in practical ways.
