September 15th…

… this is a significant date – this is tomorrow! Yep, tomorrow on Saturday, 15th of September 2012, a bunch of great people are hosting various events to raise funds for my little Heath‘s adoption grant. (i first wrote about it here.)

There will be car washes, yard sales and soccer pledges in the following places – California, Florida, Indiana, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Washington. If you are in the US and are in the above mentioned states and would like to support the events, please put in a comment below (with your email and the state you live in) and i will find out for you exactly where and at what time these events are happening. If you are near enough to attend, i humbly ask that you take some time and go over, lend your support and contribute towards Heath’s adoption grant.

Now i must tell you how wonderfully God is working. These events were planned quite a while back and i have been praying for God to bring in at least US$5000 for Heath from these events. Even that amount i had my doubts. Oh me of little faith!

11 years old Heath, is a cutie who needs his family asap.

God has bigger plans. We found out a week or so ago that some very generous donor has offered Heath a matching grant of US$5000; which means at the end of September if we manage to raise US$5000, Heath will get a total of US$10,000. That is double what i was praying for!

It doesn’t stop there – since the announcement that Heath has a matching grant, we have had very generous people contributing to his grant even before the fundraising events. Within a little over a week, God has moved people and US$2435.50 has come into Heath‘s grant. That means we need to raise another US$2564.50! Just a little over half the amount to meet the matching grant!

So God is working to get Heath‘s adoption grant over the US$20,000 mark! i believe that God will do it and He will open Heaven’s floodgates and push the grant up to US$25,000 even!

My faith has truly grown just watching God move mountains for these special needs orphans. Please do join me in this faith-building journey and pray along with us for the events to run smoothly, for lots of people to show their support and contribute towards the fund and pray also for the safety of all involved in these events. Pray that God will meet the matching grant amount and much more.

Do also pray for Heath, pray for his daily needs and for his protection; spiritually, mentally and spiritually.

Click on Heath‘s picture or his name to go to his profile page to read more about him and to contribute towards his adoption grant. If you do contribute to his grant, please leave a comment below and an email so i can get in touch with you and send you a little thank you gift.

Once Heath has a full grant (usually US$25,000), the forever family who comes for him will be able to get to him in record time as the funds would already be there. 😀

Thank you for your prayers and support of the son of my heart – my little Heath.

Up, Up It Goes…

…not talking about a balloon or a cloud or even a plane… i’m talking about my little Heath’s and my beloved Heather’s adoption grants!

i’m back from my holidays and the money from the generous donor is in the bank so i can finally make the transfer. So now Heather’s adoption grant is at US$492.50 and Heath’s adoption grant is at US$9471.44. (Read about my church youth group’s fundraising efforts here.)

11 years old Heath, is a cutie who needs his family asap.

But the good news doesn’t just stop there! Heath has been given a matching grant by some very generous children who are offering their birthday money (US$450) so that a family might reach Heath faster. Which means every cent donated to Heath’s grant will be doubled! He would have at least another US$900 in his grant, if we managed to raise the other US$450 by 1st September, giving Heath just over 10K!

i had felt bad about not being able to transfer the money raised by my church youth group sooner but now i see how wonderfully God is working. He had me hold back the transfer till now because His Plan was to double the money!! See instead of just US$355… Heath is really getting US$710 from the amount the youths raised! God is truly amazing!!

Oh, it keeps getting better… i was told yesterday that some really special people in the US have fallen in love with Heath and are pulling together to help get his grant over the 10K mark and eventually to a full grant (25K). My heart absolutely burst with joy when i read that sooo many are rooting for and practically helping my little Heath! God is indeed answering prayers!! Praise the Lord!

They will be offering to wash cars, having yard sales and taking soccer pledges in the following States: California, Florida, Idaho, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Washington. (i will update this list as more people sign up to do this.) The target date for these activities is September 15th. If you live in the US and would like to contribute at these events, contact me and i’ll put you in touch with these lovely people. Right here, i wanna Thank them for their fantastic efforts.

Even if you don’t live in the US, you can still contribute. Simply click on his name or picture to go to his profile and donate to his adoption grant. Please do donate before September 1st so that the amount you donate can be doubled with the matching grant.

Of course, you can most definitely pray, pray, pray… pray that a family finds Heath asap, pray that his daily needs are met, pray that his health (physical, emotional and spiritual) are well.

Wait! There is still more news to come…

Every year, Reece’s Rainbow has their Christmas Angel Tree project (it runs from Nov 1st to Dec 31st) to pull focus on orphans aged 0-5, with Down Syndrome during the Christmas period. This year they are extending this to older children and children with other special needs as well (They call it My Own Little Starfish). But they can only include 3 from each category and the 3 will be decided via votes from people who support their ministry in one way or another.

And my little Heath was voted in! Thank you to everyone who voted for Heath. So now Heath will get additional exposure this Christmas! Here’s another wonderful person shouting out for HeathWholelottalovin.

11 years old in September 2012… she has waited for a family to come for her for so very long…

So much about Heath, does this mean my little Heather has been neglected? No. Of course not. She has a new picture! Doesn’t she look absolutely adorable in that blue dress? With this new picture, i have read and heard people commenting and talking about her. So things are moving for her too… maybe not in as a big a way as Heath but they are moving. And i’m praying and praying that she will be listed for the vote into the Christmas Angel Tree project. (The Angel Tree page seems to be down for updates so i can only link you to Christmas Warrior page which is part of Angel Tree.)

Do continue to pray for her, pray that she will get more notice, her grant will grow, her daily needs met and most of all, pray that a family comes for her asap. Of course, donate to her adoption grant. And if you have ever considered adoption, do consider Heather. She is such a sweetie and has no medical conditions except her DS. Click on her name or picture to go to her profile page. (i will be doing a special focus on Heather in September.)

Thank you so much for your kind attention and for your prayers and contributions.

God Is Good! Target Met…

That’s right – our target was met – prayers answered!

What prayers? What target?

11 year old Heath, is a cutie who needs his family asap.
10 year old Heather, is a sweetie who needs a family asap.

Well, our church (International Church of Luzern) Youth’s fundraising project called Angels for Orphans had a target of CHF700. And it was met!

i proposed this project to our church Youth Leaders a couple of months back, when i felt led to do something more than pray for my little Heath and my lovely Heather. i had initially decided to do the fundraising by myself, but God prompted me to ask if this would be a project for the Youths. They said yes! So planning started; ideas and materials were gathered and tested. i settled on making a few simple crafts and baking cookies.

i had also wanted the Youths to come to know the power of prayer, the joy and the blessings of praying for others (even for people we didn’t know personally) and that our Lord God is mighty in answering prayers. This was something i wished i had as a youth and i wish for them to have it in their lives now – knowing this, truly, deeply knowing this would just make their uncharted journey through life a little easier.

So with that in mind, the Youth Coordinator and myself planned for the Angels for Orphans project to be introduced during a session where the Youths were studying about prayer. i was really nervous but survived (Thank God!) the rather time-constrained presentation (i could only present the project after they finished their session, which took most of the time). After which, i followed it up with 3 weeks of handouts, about Heath and Heather, about Reece’s Rainbow, about why God would want us to help the orphans, including also prayer pointers and websites of other teens who are doing their bit for these precious ones.

Then we had a Sunday morning of making the crafts. It went slower than expected but the teachers were supportive and the youths were happy to do the work. Some took home materials to work on as we didn’t get enough done that day. The following Sunday morning was focused on putting finishing touches and baking cookies. A couple of hours after that, it was Sale Time!

The cookies went the fastest! In the picture you only see one type of cookie, the other chocolate one was gone before i could even pull out the camera. The Angel Cards were also very popular. The Finger Puppet Angels were mainly bought by mothers or grandmothers for the kids. The Bell Angels (the little cardboard angels with bells in them) were harder to sell as people didn’t think them too practical (something to consider for the next project).

We are not a huge church, we are but a small family church; still, we managed to raise CHF415 🙂 Then we had a very generous offer – a couple said they would buy up all the remaining items and give a little above that, which allowed us to hit our target of CHF700! Praise the Lord!

Below are pictures of the table display and close-ups of all the items made and sold:

We (myself and the Youths) would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this fundraising project, whether in buying something or in helping to make the crafts/cookies. We will carry on praying for little Heath and lovely Heather, praying that this small amount we raised will help the family who finds them to reach them faster.
