Make Room for Joy…

What brings you joy? A promotion at work? A new dress? That new gadget? Being praised? Simply happy to be who you are? Loving good music? Your children? Time with family?

Family… family means unconditional love, family means belonging, family means joy…

i read this post from Peas and Thank You some time ago and have bookmarked it because i want to remind myself to constantly “Make Room for Joy” in our busy lives. Have a read:

Snapshot Sunday: Make Room for Joy : Peas and Thank You.

Sweet Celine waits still for her family.

Now i want you to meet Celine. She is a 7-year-old little girl who lives in an orphanage. She is fortunate that her orphanage has enough facilities to care for her (such places are few in her country). But she still lacks something – a family, a family who would love her and enjoy being with her and bring her joy; help her make room for joy and not just live day-to-day, surviving.

i see the pictures of the girls dancing (in the Peas and Thank You post) and i just know that Celine would make quite a little dancer herself but i don’t think she will have an opportunity to dance with such unbridled joy unless she is in a safe, caring family environment. Could you be that family for her? If you feel a little tugging at your heart, do head over to Reece’s Rainbow or click on Celine‘s picture or name to find out more.

Celine is blessed to have a wonderful advocate and prayer warrior at Life’s Beautiful Butterflies. She has helped raised a whole lot of funds for Celine and is continuing to do so during this Christmas Angel Tree season at Reece’s Rainbow. Please do hop over and read about her fundraisers and take part.

You can also contribute directly to Celine‘s adoption grant here. A bigger grant would ensure that her forever family can reach her without worrying about the financial burden. The region she is in is very expensive to adopt from (expenses can go into US$40,000 and up).

Do also pray for Celine‘s daily needs and for her family to find her real soon.

Thank you.

Thank You So Much…New Target…

i would be greatly remiss to not say a huge THANK YOU to the very Generous Donors who contributed to Wesley‘s adoption grant on Thursday, 15th November.

If you had read my last post, it talked about me being ill and not being able to write for Nano. Well, what it didn’t say was that being ill also stopped me from going to my ladies’ bible study where i had hoped to hand out little cards asking people to take part in the Precious One Giveaway for Wesley. i had fifty cards prepared… that’s right 50! i had also hoped to hand out the cards at another ladies’ event tomorrow, but again, being still ill, i can’t be there. And the stack of cards is sitting on my table now, staring back at me.

There is an old Chinese saying:

人 算不如天算

which generally conveys the idea that we should leave it to God. (Literal translation: People count not like God count)

Wesley thanks his generous donors for growing his fund to US$495.50. Let’s make it to the US$1000 mark!

Here i was preparing this, that and the other so that i can get people to contribute to Wesley‘s adoption grant. But God had other plans. i fell ill and had to depend on Him. And He showed what a wonderful God He is!

i decided (more God-inspired, i would say) that i needed to do personal appeal letters to my friends as we had only 2 contributions after more than 2 weeks. Maybe people were not seeing my posts.

i wrote the letters while feeling ill and sent them out while ill, praying that God will just show me the right people to send the letter to. All it took was 3 hours for God to raise US$225 for Wesley‘s fund. (It may have been faster but i checked the fund total 3 hours after i sent the letters.)

The donors did not write back to say they have donated. No one wrote back to tell me, even after i sent another letter asking them to let me know who they are so i can put them in the draw. So to those wonderful ladies (i sent to only ladies that day) who donated on 15th November, THANK YOU once again.

So this gives Wesley US$495.50 in his fund! That’s only US$4.50 away from the target we started with at the end of October.

Now i have become bold, encouraged by such generosity. My new target is to get Wesley‘s fund over the US$1000 mark. Yep, in 17 days, i hope and pray that we would be able to raise US$504.50. more for Wesley.

Please do consider donating to Wesley‘s adoption fund. Click here to find out more about the Precious One Giveaway. Click here or on his picture/name to go to Wesley‘s profile page to donate.

Please partner with me, help me to spread the word about Wesley and this Giveaway. i will be sending out a second appeal letter various other people (it maybe you…) and praying God moves their hearts to help Wesley grow his fund.

Do continue to pray for Wesley; his daily needs and for his forever family to find him.

Thank you so much.

Small Comforts…

Today i have been fighting a bug, trying to keep illness at bay. i would have like to just curl up in bed and nurse my body back to full health but there were things that needed to be done. There is a birthday next week which needs a present, the sink needs to be pumped, the chrome surfaces need cleaning. The Husband is away and the Boy needs to be fed and homework needs to be supervised. How i wish i were a little girl again and had my mummy to take care of me; to make me my comfort foods and make sure i took my meds and got enough rest, to kiss me and hug me and make me feel better.

Help Wesley grow his adoption grant. Share his story so his forever family can find him.

Then i think about Wesley – does he get to experience such small comforts as having someone love on him when he is not feeling well? Is there someone who will kiss and make it all better when he falls down? Will someone be there to help him understand when the world is cruel to him, just because of the way he looks? Does someone stand up for him when people make fun of his vision problems?

Yes, his orphanage may be one of the better ones but nothing beats having your own family, a mummy and daddy whom you can call yours and not share with a hundred other kids; parents whom you know will always be there for you and love you simply because you are you, brothers and sisters who will stand up for you and help you along.

Finding Wesley is family is the main reason for me to host the Precious One Giveaway.

Lots of funds are needed to take an adoption from beginning to end. i wish to lessen the burden of Wesley‘s future family by raising his adoption grant as much as i can.

Even though people having been reading about the Precious One Giveaway, only two contributions have been made. i was discouraged for a while but now i choose to believe that people came by and now they know about Wesley, maybe they are praying for Wesley, maybe they will share his story and somehow his forever family will hear about him and come for him.

i am comforted to have comrades in this effort and i would like to feature one of them today… Pamela from SavingHisSparrows

She featured both Wesley and Heath on her blog as we were invited to Emmitt‘s (the child she advocates for) virtual birthday party. My favourite line from her post is:

Imagine what it would mean to him to find out that he is loved and valued for who he is…
That he will always have a home…
That his parents and siblings love to have him around…
And can’t imagine life without him in it!
He’s waiting for that love and assurance!
Waiting for a family to choose him!
Please hop over and have a read of the whole post here.
So please help Wesley grow his adoption grant, share his story so that a family might come for him. Take part in the Precious One Giveaway here.
Do continue to pray for Wesley, Heath and Emmitt. Click on their names to go to their profile pages.
