God Has Done It… Again!

11 years old Heath, is a cutie who needs his family asap.

That’s right – He has indeed! He has worked a miracle once again and i think we have met the matching grant for my little Heath, which i talked about on Friday. (Click here to read about it.)

Julia, over at CovenantBuilders, reported contributions of US$2005.15. The Johnsons reported pancakes sales of US$800 and there were a few other reports of various amounts which i am not sure whether or not Julia had included them in her report. But just taking Julia’s reported amount and the pancake sales, it is already enough to meet the matching grant!

Praise the Lord! Thank you God!

Since i could not be at any of the events, i will point you to others who were. Here are 2 summaries. (i’m sure there are others but i haven’t had time to gather them all together.)

Update: another post from another wonderful lady who loves little Heath. (18 Sept 2012)

Thank you to everyone who contributed, whether in giving donations or taking part in a car wash or bought a pancake or bought something at the yard sale or bake sale etc…

Thank you also to the tireless volunteers who have all worked so very hard to help this little boy’s adoption grant grow, all in hopes that his forever family will see him and bring him home quickly.

PS: If you visit Heath‘s profile page (click on his name or picture), his adoption currently reads US$13583.70 (as of Monday, 17th September 2012, at 9.25pm – Swiss time). It will take a week or so for all the contributions to show on his profile. Also the matching grant will only be contributed at the end of the month.

PPS: Please do keep on praying for Heath, for his forever family to come for him and for his daily needs. Also please do continue to share his story so his family does find him quickly. And if you feel led to give towards his grant, every little bit helps and it will most definitely be appreciated by the family who comes to bring him home. A bit more would also mean that maybe his family could contribute more to his institute to better the living conditions of the ones who remain there.

September 15th…

… this is a significant date – this is tomorrow! Yep, tomorrow on Saturday, 15th of September 2012, a bunch of great people are hosting various events to raise funds for my little Heath‘s adoption grant. (i first wrote about it here.)

There will be car washes, yard sales and soccer pledges in the following places – California, Florida, Indiana, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Washington. If you are in the US and are in the above mentioned states and would like to support the events, please put in a comment below (with your email and the state you live in) and i will find out for you exactly where and at what time these events are happening. If you are near enough to attend, i humbly ask that you take some time and go over, lend your support and contribute towards Heath’s adoption grant.

Now i must tell you how wonderfully God is working. These events were planned quite a while back and i have been praying for God to bring in at least US$5000 for Heath from these events. Even that amount i had my doubts. Oh me of little faith!

11 years old Heath, is a cutie who needs his family asap.

God has bigger plans. We found out a week or so ago that some very generous donor has offered Heath a matching grant of US$5000; which means at the end of September if we manage to raise US$5000, Heath will get a total of US$10,000. That is double what i was praying for!

It doesn’t stop there – since the announcement that Heath has a matching grant, we have had very generous people contributing to his grant even before the fundraising events. Within a little over a week, God has moved people and US$2435.50 has come into Heath‘s grant. That means we need to raise another US$2564.50! Just a little over half the amount to meet the matching grant!

So God is working to get Heath‘s adoption grant over the US$20,000 mark! i believe that God will do it and He will open Heaven’s floodgates and push the grant up to US$25,000 even!

My faith has truly grown just watching God move mountains for these special needs orphans. Please do join me in this faith-building journey and pray along with us for the events to run smoothly, for lots of people to show their support and contribute towards the fund and pray also for the safety of all involved in these events. Pray that God will meet the matching grant amount and much more.

Do also pray for Heath, pray for his daily needs and for his protection; spiritually, mentally and spiritually.

Click on Heath‘s picture or his name to go to his profile page to read more about him and to contribute towards his adoption grant. If you do contribute to his grant, please leave a comment below and an email so i can get in touch with you and send you a little thank you gift.

Once Heath has a full grant (usually US$25,000), the forever family who comes for him will be able to get to him in record time as the funds would already be there. 😀

Thank you for your prayers and support of the son of my heart – my little Heath.

Glass Children…

What are glass children? They are ‘normal’ children with special needs siblings.

i heard this term for the very first time a few months ago when i watched a TedX Video from their event in San Antonio. It was a talk presented by Alicia Arenas. She herself was a glass child.

This is her definition of glass children from her website, Sanera People Development Company:

Glass children are healthy children who have brothers or sisters with special needs. They are typically emotionally neglected, experience severe pressure to be problem-free and perfect, take on parental responsibilities within the family at a young age and have an overwhelming need to make others happy. All this while receiving little nurturing and support in their development years.

i like how she said that glass children are actually very strong because of what they have to go through in their unique family situations. But it was sad to hear how much pain she went through. Her parents, and others around her didn’t know, because she was the “perfect” child, she was a good girl, doing whatever she can to make her parents happy; she knew that she had to stay out of trouble because her parents were overwhelmed needing to care for her 2 special needs brothers. She always said she was fine when in fact she was not. She was dying inside, needing attention, love and care.

At the end of her talk, she talked about 1 mile per hour wind; a wind which is near calm and only slightly bends a little blade of grass, a wind which can change the trajectory of a bullet by 15 inches. She appealed to the people in the audience to be that 1 mile per hour wind and make a difference in the life of a glass child.

This is an updated photo – about a month ago… she needs her family to come for her today…

While you consider being that 1 mile per hour wind for a glass child, i ask you to also consider being that near calm wind for my lovely Heather.

In a way, Heather is like the glass child among other special needs children. She is perfectly healthy with the exception of that extra chromosome; she has Down Syndrome. But because she only has that one medical condition and very little other information about her on her profile, i think that she may not be receiving as much attention as she should.

This month (September) she turns 11. No one to celebrate for her. No one to bake her a cake, let alone blow out candles with her.

i am celebrating for her by doing a post for her every Monday in September; praying and hoping this will get her the attention she needs; maybe her forever family will finally find her.

Please join me in praying for Heather. Praying for her daily needs and most importantly, praying for a loving family to come and bring her home.

As you look at her picture, think about her situation. Could you be the family who could help her grow up into the wonderful girl i know she is inside? If you think so, then do send an email to Reece’s Rainbow to enquire about her.

Last but not least, she has a very small adoption grant at the moment. You can help it grow by going to her profile page (click on her name or picture) and use the Donate button to contribute towards it. An international adoption can cost anywhere from US$20,000 to US$40,000. A larger adoption grant will help her forever family reach her sooner.

Thank you so much.
