OrphanS of the Month for September and October… Angel Crafts Shop…

So it has been 2 months since i last wrote about my Orphan of the Month. If you remember at the beginning of July, i said that July and August would be the last month we have to contribute to DENNY‘s adoption grant because he will be moved to the Older Boys Grant section on Reece’s Rainbow. See this post.

Well, in July and August, there was, again, no sales; which means i have not been able to contribute to DENNY‘s grant. 😦

Now i have been thinking hard about the direction i should go with Angel Crafts Shop. i do still want to continue with the shop and i do still want to continue contributing to the orphans advocated for via Reece’s Rainbow.

BUT… since running the shop and my other responsibilities take up so much of my time, my actual advocacy efforts (i.e. highlighting individual orphans so they get seen) have taken a backseat. Not what i wanted, really.

Now my heart is for orphans, and especially for special needs orphans, and even more specifically for older (6 years and up) special needs orphans, because they are usually the last to be seen.

So looking at the situation, i have decided that i will not be having an Orphan of the Month anymore! INSTEAD, Angel Crafts Shop will be giving 50% of all sales to the Older Child Grant (10+ years old) at Reece’s Rainbow. AND i will be highlighting 2 orphans every month from that list. So in a way, there will still be orphan of the month, just highlighting 2 of them (now it will be called OrphanS of the Month) and fundraising for the whole group of them.

orphansofthemonth20160904Giving will be split between Older Child Grant for Other Angels (other special needs) and Older Child Grant for Down Syndrome; September, October, January, February and March for Older Child Grant for Other Angels; April, May, June, July, August for Older Child Grant for Down Syndrome. November and December will be reserved for the child i get assigned to for the special Christmas fundraising event, Angel Tree. Please click on the respective grant titles to see details as well as a list of all the children on it.

In this way, i am able to keep on giving and also get back to active advocacy for individuals, and also not be overstressed if i don’t have sales for a couple of months, i know i have 5 months to try and raise some money for each group of older children.

So this month kicks off my fundraising efforts for the Older Child Grant for Other Angels!

i have also been thinking about the direction of Angel Crafts Shop itself; in terms of what crafts i would be making for sale. So stay tuned for news on that front because there will be big sales to sell off current stock and then launching of new stock in the new year!

In the meantime, keep shopping at Angel Crafts Shop so that you can help to grow these children’s adoption grants, which gives the family who steps up for any of them a better chance of reaching them before they age out of the system.

Thank you very much for your continued support!

Orphan of the Month for July and August… Angel Crafts Shop…

i have to report, once again, sadly, that there has been no sale in the months of May and June so my Orphan of the Month for those months, DENNY, did not get anything added to his grant.

So DENNY stays on as Orphan of the Month for July and August!

This is the last chance we will have to add to DENNY‘s adoption grant. After August, he will join other 10 years old and above children and be added in for the pooled grant of US$10,000, which will be given to the family who steps forward to adopt him when they are successful in their application to Reece’s Rainbow for a Family Sponsorship Page (FSP).

DENNY is said to be a spunky little one who is a favourite with the carers at his orphanage. They think he is special. His medical need is hydrocephalus. He is obedient and very helpful. He is caring towards other children and has normal development in his gross and fine motor skills. His language skills are below par for his age but he understands all instructions and is potty-trained. He is introverted but he smiles a lot.

DENNY sounds like such a sweet boy and a wonderful addition to any family. An adoption within his own country would be very unlikely because he’s an older boy and because of his medical condition. A costly international adoption is the best chance for him to have a family of his own.

His grant with Reece’s Rainbow is currently at US$4.95. i would like to see that grow to at least US$50. Please help me to grow DENNY‘s grant!

During the months of July and August, shop at Angel Crafts Shop and 50% of all sales will go to DENNY‘s grant. So come shopping!

Please do also pray for DENNY; pray for his daily needs and most of all, for a family to step up for him. You can also share his story so more people can help. Click on his name or picture to go to his profile page. Thank you very much.

Orphan of the Month for May and June… Angel Crafts Shop…

i am sad to report that there have been no sales in the months of March and April so my Orphan of the Month for those 2 months, TIMON, did not get anything added to his adoption grant. However, i am happy to say that Reece’s Rainbow, where his grant is being held, has just changed their grant policy with regards to older children (10 and above), which means TIMON is now eligible for a US$10,000 grant once a family commits to him and is successful in their application for a FSP (Family Sponorship Page). So that’s great news for TIMON. Please continue to pray for TIMON and for a family for him. Please also continue to share his need for a loving family. Thank you.

Now onto the Orphan of the Month for May and June!

Meet DENNY!

He is such a sweetheart! He has hydrocephalus but his mental development is normal as is his gross and fine motor skills. However, his language skills are not quite up to par with his peers. He can understand all directions from adults and can express himself well through words and body language. He is a caring boy who is curious and helpful. He gets along well with other children and has a good memory.

DENNY sounds like a wonderful little boy who simply needs a caring family to show him the way forwards. He will be 10 in August and that puts him in the older boy category in adoption terms, coupled with his medical condition, that is considered 3 strikes against him getting adopted within his home country. So an international adoption may be the way for him to have a family.

His adoption grant with Reece’s Rainbow at the moment is at zero! i am asking for your help to help change that; to zero the zero, as some adoption advocates like to say.

For the months of May and June, when you shop at Angel Crafts Shop, 50% of all sales will go to DENNY‘s adoption grant. So come and start shopping and grow DENNY‘s adoption grant!

You can also share DENNY‘s need for a family and pray for him as well. Click on DENNY‘s name or picture to go to his profile page.

Thank you very much.
