Lexi’s Second Birthday

Yesterday was Lexi’s birthday and she turned 2. In one way, it feels like she has been with us forever, and yet, some days i feel like we just got her not long ago.

So in doggy years, she is considered an adult dog now, no more puppy. Generally, she is very good and such a sweetie. Just sometimes she digs her heels in and doesn’t do what you tell her to, usually when i call her to come and she has decided that it’s not worth the effort… they do say Schnauzers are hardheads (from the German expression ‘hartkopf’).

She still loves to play tug and chase but has mellowed with regards to chasing cats and birds (it does not mean she does not chase them, it just means if i am quick enough to tell her to leave them alone, she does), and she does more willingly leave other dogs alone when they don’t want to play with her.

For her birthday, we bought her a doggy pool (made of special plastic which can withstand the claws of a dog) and some lovely canned food and a new chew snack. i baked her a doggy birthday cake, #crazyforcrust, which she loves.

12th Birthday Celebrations…

That’s right, my little boy; now not so little anymore, turned 12 a week ago!

Usually, i blog about his birthday pretty much on the day itself or a few days after, but this time, the husband was away so i had to wait till he got back before we could do our traditional birthday shot. (See end of blog)

So this year, his birthday fell on a Friday which was when i had to bake his favourite cupcakes (Red Velvet with cream cheese icing) for him to take to school and share with his classmates.

He got to open one of his presents before he left for school and the rest after lunch. His friends loved the cupcakes! This has become a sort of tradition since he decided that Red Velvet was his favourite and only cake to have.

He had already decided that he was just going to have a small celebration with 3 friends. One of them could not make our Saturday outing so i took just him and his 2 best friends to the Schwarzsee on Saturday.

Isn't this scenery just to die for? LOVE IT! It was such a gorgeous day!

We arrived in time for a nice lunch by the beautiful lakeside. Then it was off to ride the Monster Trotti (Monster Scooter) down Riggisalp. After a bit of a shaky start, the boys were off. But not for me, i had no confidence on the scooter and the gravelly path didn’t help. After a couple of falls, i decided to walk the steep parts and ride the less “scary” parts. So of course, the boys were already at the bottom quite a while before i managed to get there. Well, as long as they had fun.

Then we went off to ride the Rondelbahn (Toboggan Run). There was no space to have our bags with us, so i sent them off to ride it by themselves while i watch the bags. They made 2 runs and then i went with one of the boys for another 2 runs. This was so much more my thing. Heheee 😉

Before each of their fun thrilling rides!

One of the boys had wanted to ride the Monster Scooter again but it was too expensive to go again. So they settled for ice cream and drinks by the lake.

i love this shot of them, trying to skip stones on the lake.

We came home just a little earlier than planned, opened the presents, had some cupcakes and the boys played a little on the computer before they went home.

It was a good day of celebrations 😀

OMG… He’s Inching Closer…

Yep, my boy is most definitely getting closer to the four-letter word… T-E-E-N… He celebrated his 11th Birthday last week!

This year he decided to go for a big party – or at least what passes for a big party in these parts – he invited 10 friends to a bowling center for a wonderful time. Last year, he opted for an intimate water adventure with just 2 friends.

Here are some pictures to share the event with you:

Here he is, at home, before the party, with the cupcakes and presents (these are from us and his grandparents and uncle).

This is the bowling center near our place. It’s not glam or big but enough with 6 lanes, and other arcade games as well as billiards/pool. Actually, there were 2 other birthday celebrations the same day we were there!

And here’s our traditional birthday shot – the 3 of us, celebrating Tobias’ birthday in our new home 😉

The kids had great fun and i had a relaxing time, watching them play and laugh and having a good time. Tobias is already planning for next year’s party.

Yikes! i still can’t wrap my head around the idea that my baby will be hitting “some-teen” in 2 years!

Sigh! i guess that what kids do, isn’t it? They grow up. 🙂
