Today at Forty to Forever, we gather to help the Schmitt family bringing home their second little boy, Drake! That’s right they are bringing home TWO! They are a family who have always tried their very best to help others. It is time for us to help them… please go over and contribute to their adoption grant and take part in the Giveaway.

drake 1Meet Drake!  His specific diagnosis is Freeman Sholden – syndrome a form of arthrogryposis which affects the joints, but is non progressive. Todd and Melissa saw Lance and were instantly in love and completely committed to bringing him home – no matter how hard they may have to fight to get him.

So many precious children are listed on Reece’s Rainbow that they felt they would want to adopt another child “some day”, but none of those beautiful lives were called to them…other families scooped some of them up and others they didn’t qualify for and they resolved to focus on Lance for now. Until Drake. Drake got an updated picture and video and Melissa was absolutely astounded that this was the same little boy. She showed Todd just to marvel at the miracle and then tried to move on…

Day 19: Jason Needs A Family… Forty to Forever…

Today at Forty to Forever we are pulling together for Jason. Jason who lives in a remote institute for severely mentally and physically handicapped children. Jason who needs a family so badly. Would you please help?

JasonJason lives in a remote institution for severely mentally and physically handicapped children. He spends most of his time confined to his crib. “Jason” hits himself, causing injury to his face and head, so he is often physically restrained. He is delayed both mentally and physically. He can crawl but not walk, although I have been told that he is learning to walk with support. Jason is nine but functions on the mental level of a toddler.  Jason is being advocated for by Daneille.  She shares her story below…

Day 18: Drake for the Ashby Family… Forty to Forever…

Forty to Forever is back on track… we had a couple of days of sorting out things after some sad news. So today we rally around the Ashby family who are bringing Drake home. PicMonkey Collage_1 (1)James and Christy met in the spring of 2007 and they married three years later. Combined they have 5 children. Their youngest 3 children are teenagers and reside at home. James works for a local hospital in Behavioral Health and with children who have special needs. Christy works for a large telecommunications company in Information Technology as a Service Management Specialist. James and Christy are looking to expand their family and are pursuing an international adoption. They have a 1.5 year old son waiting for them in an Eastern European country and are very excited to meet him!

Christy started researching adoption in the spring of 2012. She feels strongly that God has led her and James to adopt a child with special needs. She found the Reece’s Rainbow website and was shocked by the sheer volume of children that need to be adopted. She continued…
