Pandemic Bakes…

Yep, it’s about food… and it’s about yummy baked treats… and all made and eaten during lockdown and the weeks after.

i love baking but in the time before the pandemic something else always took up my attention and availability. Plus my family are not sweet-tooth people. But when we went into semi-lockdown (Switzerland never fully locked down – see this post), i decided i should be making more stuff at home and not depend on store-bought stuff so much. Of course, i had a couple of captive diners who had to eat the bakes 😉

It was also great to be able to share photos of my bakes with my friends who are also into baking and made for great conversation during the lockdown period.

i started baking from the middle of March. Here are photos of all those bakes for you to enjoy (i took a 3 week break from baking during the summer holidays and only started up again last week):

If you are interested getting the recipes for any of the bakes, drop me a message.

Do you bake? Care to share a few pictures and recipes?

Lexi’s Second Birthday

Yesterday was Lexi’s birthday and she turned 2. In one way, it feels like she has been with us forever, and yet, some days i feel like we just got her not long ago.

So in doggy years, she is considered an adult dog now, no more puppy. Generally, she is very good and such a sweetie. Just sometimes she digs her heels in and doesn’t do what you tell her to, usually when i call her to come and she has decided that it’s not worth the effort… they do say Schnauzers are hardheads (from the German expression ‘hartkopf’).

She still loves to play tug and chase but has mellowed with regards to chasing cats and birds (it does not mean she does not chase them, it just means if i am quick enough to tell her to leave them alone, she does), and she does more willingly leave other dogs alone when they don’t want to play with her.

For her birthday, we bought her a doggy pool (made of special plastic which can withstand the claws of a dog) and some lovely canned food and a new chew snack. i baked her a doggy birthday cake, #crazyforcrust, which she loves.

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy:

For My Father…

I continue with exploring poetry, here’s my little Father’s Day Poem for my Dad.

Roland, that is his name
Only he a father i will ever need
Laughter flows as does his corny jokes
Accepting everyone as they are does he
Never gives up, always tries he does
Delicious pork chops his signature dish

My dearest Papa, Thank You
You are the best Daddy a girl can ever want

Fun-loving and generous with his time and talents
Always seeking the silver lining in life
Tender-hearted yet strong he is always
Hardworking, giving his best each and every time
Encouragements he gives always lifts me up
Repay him for his devoted love ever try I will

Thank you Daddy for everything you have done for us.
Happy Father’s Day!

your beloved daughter
