Our Goal is to raise $500 for Abigail and Lina… $171 to go!

Lanz FamilyWe are ordinary people who serve an extraordinary God. He has led us in this adventure of life. We were married in 1980, with me (Randi) fresh out of high school. Our first daughter was born a little over a year after that, with our second daughter following two years later.

My attention was drawn to the needs of parent-less children through a regular weekly feature on a local news station. Each week they put the spotlight on a special needs child who needed a home. Then as now – the need is great. Long story short – we adopted two biological brothers, both diagnosed with cerebral palsy and mental retardation. Was it hard? You bet!

The years went by, and several more children were born to us. We were busily raising and homeschooling our growing family. We talked at various times throughout…

Day 14: Lance for the Schmitt Family… Forty to Forever…

Today we are helping the Schmitt family bring little Lance home. This is a family where adoption has always been in their heart and they have worked to help many others before. Now God has led them to their very own little Lance, they are definitely jumping in with both feet. Let’s help them get funded.
Today’s Lent devotion is about not letting man-made traditions which are usually not part of the Bible limit the practical expressions of your faith. Have a read and think about it… syc

Our Goal is to raise $500 for Lance and Lina… Goal Met!

Lance 2Today’s lovely family is near and dear to my heart.  Of all the friends I have made on this journey, Melissa is one of my closest!  In fact, she was the one who suggested we do a fundraiser for Lina in the first place.  You can read that story here.  Forty to Forever would have never happened if it were not for the heart of gold God has blessed Melissa with.  And I will be forever grateful that He saw fit to cross our paths!  Melissa and Todd are bringing this beautiful boy home, and he needs to get home quickly!  Let’s tackle these fundraising goals today shall we?

Melissa writes… “Todd and I were married after a whirlwind courtship less than a year after we first met.  I am so grateful for God’s mercy in…

Having a Whole Heart…

If you have read my posts over the last few Tuesdays and Wednesdays (when i am late in publishing my Teamwork Tuesday posts), you would know that i have a CHD (Congenital Heart Defect)… i have a VSD (Ventricular Spital Defect). i always tell people i have a leaky heart, my heart isn’t whole; it has a hole (very poor pun is fully intended).

Colby is a cutie who needs a family today!

Colby‘s heart isn’t whole either. He has Patent Ductus Arteriosu, a heart defect in which the fetal blood vessel connecting the aorta and the pulmonary artery does not close during birth. It can lead to all sorts of complications later in life, including CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) and pulmonary hypertension. Colby is fortunate that his condition hasn’t impacted his life in a big way yet.

When it does, i pray and hope that he will have a loving family to support him. Colby is an orphan and he also has Down Syndrome. He needs a mummy and a daddy to love him, just as he is. He needs a brother and sister to hold his hand and show him about the fun things in life.

Colby is an active boy who smiles often and loves to dance. He also enjoys games and cartoons. But he has nothing in his adoption grant; zero in his grant. Would you help change that? Would you put in a little something so that a lack of funds would not be a reason he does not have  a family? Click on his name or picture to go to his profile page to contribute.

Maybe YOU are his Forever Family?  Find out more by contacting Reece’s Rainbow.

You can also pray for him; pray for his condition to hold stable, pray for his daily needs and most of all, pray that his forever family come for him real soon.

Thank you.
